BooksRun Integration
BooksRun is a wholesale used book buyer that BookWish integrates with to provide real-time pricing guidance for trade-ins. When you scan a book during a trade-in, BookWish can automatically fetch the current buyback price that BooksRun is offering.
What is BooksRun?
BooksRun is a major used book buyer and reseller. They:
- Buy textbooks and popular titles from sellers nationwide
- Provide wholesale buyback prices based on current market demand
- Update their prices frequently based on supply and demand
- Handle large volumes of used books
BookWish uses BooksRun's pricing API to help you make informed decisions about what to offer customers for their books.
How the Integration Works
When you scan or enter an ISBN during a trade-in:
- BookWish queries BooksRun - The app sends the ISBN to BooksRun's API
- Pricing is retrieved - BooksRun returns their current buyback price
- Cached for performance - The price is cached for 24 hours to speed up future lookups
- Displayed as guidance - You see the price as a starting point for your offer
What You See
For each book, you'll see condition-based pricing:
- Like New - BooksRun's price for books in excellent condition
- Good - BooksRun's price for books with minor wear
- Acceptable - BooksRun's price for books with significant wear but still readable
Note: BooksRun doesn't always buy every book. If they're not currently buying a title, no prices will be shown.

Note: BooksRun integration requires a BooksRun API key configured by your BookWish administrator.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to use BooksRun prices?
No. BooksRun prices are suggestions only. You can offer any price you want, or manually adjust offers before completing trade-ins.
Why don't some books have BooksRun prices?
BooksRun only buys books they believe they can resell profitably. If they're not currently buying a title, no price will be shown.
Can I sell books to BooksRun directly?
Yes, but that's separate from BookWish. You can visit BooksRun's website to sell books directly to them if you prefer wholesale to retail.
How often are prices updated?
BooksRun prices are cached for 24 hours. After that, the next lookup will fetch fresh pricing data.
What if BooksRun's price seems too low?
Use your judgment! If you believe a book will sell well in your store, offer more than BooksRun's wholesale price. Remember, you're selling retail, not wholesale.
